About Craig

The Performance Culture was founded by Craig Hamer, the experienced consultant, advisor and coach for a range of commercial and charitable organisations. His approach is underpinned by 20 years’ experience in leading and delivering performance/culture change.

Craig’s personal story is not the stereotypical catalogue of success advertised by many consultants. It’s a story of big wins, occasional struggles and at times failure. But these experiences have ensured that Craig can be a trusted advisor and consultant in the good and the tough times.

Today, Craig’s initiatives drive organisational performance in the corporate, commercial and charitable sectors. With a strong focus on effective leadership, cultural change and strategic alignment, Craig is retained by a number of clients. He operates as an Associate Consultant to a number of consulting providers, helping clients align their purpose and people to drive performance.

His commercial and corporate client work is complemented by Craig’s role as a part-time lecturer at the Leeds Business School. Craig delivers undergraduate and MBA programmes on Operations Management and Corporate Strategy. This provides complimentary benefits. It ensures that students can benefit from real-life examples of management theory in practice.  Clients receive advice and recommendations based on sound research and evidence.

Change management expertise

Organisational change and people development are a long-held passion for Craig, first developed at university. After graduating with a Management Degree from Newcastle University, Craig became the National President of AIESEC UK, an educational charity with 25 local offices and 500+ volunteers. Responsible for the development and delivery of the operational strategy, Craig and his team delivered a 100% increase in volunteer members and a 300% increase in core work results.

The positive outcomes resulted in Craig adopting corporate roles at Vodafone and subsequently PA Consulting. Across both, Craig developed and delivered development and strategy and transformation initiatives. This covered Business Planning, Strategy Development, Customer Experience and Organisational Design in a broad range of industries such as Telecoms, Government, Utilities & Automotive.

Lastly, Craig’s 10 years’ experience in the Automotive retail sector increased his business transformation expertise. He held the roles of Strategy & Marketing Director, Operations Director and Managing Director. During this time, he undertook a:

·       Large-scale rebranding and digital transformation project that took the business from no web presence to market leadership within 18 months

·       Development of a new series of Franchise partnerships

·       Development and delivery of an ambitious MBO plan, raising c.£5m from multiple lenders

·       Acquisition, disposal and closure of a number of business units

·       Management and mitigation of a number of ‘high risk’ commercial disputes

In 2016, Craig exited the Automotive sector and founded The Performance Culture. Today Craig combines his broad-based business expertise with his first passion: organisational change and people development, to provide a truly differentiated and personalised offering to clients.
